Canterbury Cottage Access Statement
We hope that this Accessibility Statement will be of help in determining whether Canterbury Cottage will be suitable for any special needs or requirements you may have for your holiday. As you can understand the features which make the cottage special; grade II listed, 16th century thatched cottage, in a rural location, also present limitations for access.

The nearest A road (A358 Chard - Axminster) is 2 miles away and the final part of the journey to Canterbury Cottage consists of narrow single track country lanes which are not lit at night.
The tarmac driveway to the cottage (approx 5 yards), is very steep and should be negotiated with care. The heavy wooden gate across the top of the drive should be open before starting up, and visitors are advised to enter towards the right hand side where the slope is less severe.
Parking is available on the L shape gravelled area; adjacent to the kitchen door and the front door of the cottage, which also provides room to turn a car round, in order to exit. In hours of darkness, movement-sensitive flood lights, light this area.
The garden itself is fully fenced and gated.
A representative of Canterbury Cottage will endeavour to be there to greet you and to familiarise you with the cottage and surroundings, upon your arrival.
Entrance door to cottage with 2 inch threshold.
Level access throughout ground floor excepting 1 inch lip to living room. Low beamed 7 foot ceiling in living room.
Ground floor exit doors:
Kitchen with 2 x 6 inch drop steps
Living room: French doors to rear garden
Side door to covered garden storage area
Stairs to first floor.
2 x 8 inch rise steps (no handrail) with dog leg to enclosed staircase with 9 x 8 inch rise steps & handrail on one side only. (A small stairgate may be latched at the top of the stairs if required.)
Hallway with 7 foot sloping to 4 foot ceiling & bedrooms off. 1 inch thresholds to all bedrooms.
Laundry facilities are located in the adjacent garage reached externally.
